Accessibility

We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people browsing with a keyboard, with a screen reader, or with reduced motion switched on. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
What is in place
- Motion follows your system setting. With reduced motion enabled the opening animation does not run, page transitions do not animate, headings are not split for animation, and in-page links jump rather than glide. This is tested rather than assumed.
- Everything can be operated by keyboard, including the navigation dropdowns, the resources tabs and the application accordions. A skip link is the first thing in the tab order.
- Headings run in document order, and text that is split into individual characters for animation carries a plain copy for screen readers, so it is never announced letter by letter.
- No video plays sound on its own, and the full-bleed video sections have a visible play and pause control.
- Body text and headings sit at roughly 17:1 against their background, well clear of the 4.5:1 minimum.
- Links set in Eden blue measure 4.85:1 against the light background and 5.43:1 on white, clear of the 4.5:1 that Level AA asks of body text. They are underlined as well as coloured, so colour is never the only signal.
Where it falls short
We would rather name these than leave you to find them.
- The navigation buttons sit over moving video on several pages. Their contrast cannot be measured against a fixed background and has not been verified frame by frame.
- The site has not been tested with screen readers by people who use them daily. What has been done is keyboard testing, automated checking and contrast measurement. We would rather say so than claim a level of testing we have not carried out.
